Description

Partners in Development for Research, Consulting and Training (PID) is an Egyptian think tank specializing in development studies. Established as a private company under the Law of Companies No. 159 of 1981 and the Investment Law No. 8 of 1997, PID was founded by a number of Egyptian experts, professors, international civil servants, and businessmen known for their concern with issues of development. They built on the experience of successfully running a research center at Cairo University, which had acquired an international reputation under their leadership. They founded this think tank as an opportunity to put their knowledge and expertise to the service of economic, social, and cultural development in Egypt and other Arab countries. The status of a private company ensures the sustainability and independence of PID’s activities.

In carrying out its work, PID engages a large number of multi-disciplinary experts working in universities and research centers in the Middle East and North Africa region. Although priority is given to those with expertise in the field of economic and social development, specialists in areas such as Political Science, Public Administration, Law, Information Technology, Nutrition Sciences, and in Science and Engineering will be called upon whenever the need arises.

PID is committed to accomplishing the following activities:

  • Research on economic, social and cultural development issues, on the initiative of its won staff and under contractual arrangements
  • Professional consultations to government bodies, state-owned companies and the private sector as well as regional and international organizations
  • Training workshops in the fields of specializations of PID
  • Disseminating findings of it research as widely as possible, particularly to decision-makers, development think tanks, media outlets and concerned civil society organizations
  • Providing a forum for debating development issues of concern to Egypt, Arab and developing countries
  • Cooperation with similar think tanks and research centers in developing and developed countries.
